I want to thank all who supported the successful Caregiver Fair held Wednesday May 27th 2009 at Flagler County Public Library. We had tables from 10 area businesses and organizations that provide a wide array of services for caregivers. At peak there were 30 persons present seeking information and assistance in their caregiver journeys. All who attended came away pleased with the exchange of ideas and support as well as useful contacts made.
We next will hold a Caregiver Fair in Flagler County on September 22 of this year. What is more, there is discussion with the Deltona Area Library for a Caregiver Fair for this coming November in recognition of Caregiver Month.
The Rev. Richard F. McCleery has recently co-authored a book for family caregivers with local artist/illustrator JoAnne Thorn. "Of Sorrow and Laughter-Hope and Encouragement for Family Care Givers," provides insight into the care giver odyssey . Two other titles are soon to be added to this growing body of work in support of caregivers: "Psalms for Caregivers" and "A Garden of Hope for Caregivers."

A Companion Book to
“Of Sorrow and Laughter” is currently in the works.
“A Care Givers Journal-Words for Daily Living”
will be available in November.
This spiral bound daybook encourages care givers to tap their spiritual and
emotional strengths through keeping a daily journal.
Each day features a ‘living word’ and encouraging full color illustrations,
as well as space for hourly note keeping and personal reflections.
The journal explores care giving in light of words evocative
of the trials and joys of a care giver.
Journaling in this unique format will help everyone involved
in care giving discover meaning that can liberate and energize.
It would make an excellent presentation item for major corporations that wish to present caregiver clientswith a helpful and supportive tool.
